Gail Gagne, granddaughter of pro wrestling legend Verne Gagne is facing two counts of third-degree criminal-sexual conduct for alleged incidents with a 16-year-old male in 2008. Gagne, who was 25 at the time of the accused encounters, was a teacher and weight room supervisor at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul. The charge deals with sexual contact between a person “in a position of authority” over someone who is 16 to 18.
Gagne’s lawyer, Earl Gray, said his defendant will plead not guilty and prepare for trial, which will be held in Hennepin County. The accused male has not been identified, as he is still a minor at this time.
She became acquainted with the student in the summer of 2008 while she was working as the weight room supervisor and he was doing a work-study job in the weight room, in addition to working out himself. The complaint revealed that Gagne gave the student rides home and bought him meals. The complaint also said that Gagne took the student to her home and performed oral sex on him.
The student also claimed that Gagne took him to a hotel near the Mall of America where they had sex. Hotel records and credit card receipts do confirm Gagne staying at a La Quinta hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, near the Mall of America on the nights of September 13-14, 2008.
Police were called the school on May 4, 2009, to investigate an “allegation of sexual conduct between a student and a teacher.”
Gagne, a graduate of Cretin-Derham, worked as an assistant basketball coach, a substitute teacher, the weight room supervisor before becoming a full-time teacher for the 2008-09 school year. She is no longer employed at Cretin-Derham and has possibly relocated to the Chicago area. Investigators issued the warrant for Gagne’s arrest at her parents’ home in Bloomington, but her father, former pro wrestler Greg Gagne, said she no longer lives there and is working out of state.
